CareerArtAudience is a workshop series and resource centre for independent musicians. Set up by Gil Hockman, the goal of CareerArtAudience is to demystify the music industry as well provide the tools and insights that will allow artist to pursue their dreams in the most fruitful and effective way.

Gil Hockman is an artist and music industry all-rounder. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, he studied Journalism and Media Studies during which he fell head over heals into the music industry. Starting out as a writer, photographer and radio presenter Gil quickly graduated to organising and promoting his own shows before eventually owning the legendary Cape Town venue The Independent Armchair Theatre. All this time he was also part of the cult art-rock group The Buckfever Underground, whose acclaimed work in the late 90s and early 2000s had a marked influence on a generation of local artists.

Since 2009, Gil has toured and recorded as a solo artist, relocating to Berlin in 2016 where he now also runs the Duh Dum! PR agency and provides workshops and coaching sessions for independent artists.
